Recently, Square Enix and Marvel Entertainment announced a new licensing agreement and multi-game deal to develop and publish games from the Marvel comics universe. The first game from the partnership is The Avengers project, and Crystal Dynamics will team up with Eidos Montreal on development.
The Avengers Project will contain an original story that will “introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come.” Unfortunately, more details will be coming in 2018. Until then take a look at the announcement trailer below.
To concentrate on their development duties, Eidos Montreal is putting their cyberpunk franchise Deus Ex on hiatus. It isn’t Marvel’s fault entirely, as Deus Ex: Mankind Divided didn’t live up to sales expectations.
Hopefully Square and Marvel change their minds and share details about the partnership in the upcoming months at E3.
